January 19, 1996 - 100 Block of Walnut Street, Penns Grove
Squirt 5 uses a master stream to help douse this multi-alarm fire
On the early morning of January 19, 1996 the Penns Grove Fire Department was dispatched to the 100 block of Walnut St. for a building fire. Shortly after arrival a second alarm was called. 30 minutes into the fire and being hampered by 30 mph winds, a third alarm was dispatched.

Engine 5 responded and arrived to find one building involved with winds spreading the fire to two adjoining building. By the time master stream operations were started, using the telequrt and 2 1/2″ lines, the fire had spread to the one adjoining building and a church. It took 8 engine companies, 1 ladder, 1 rescue squad and 50 firefighters to extinguish this fire in 6 hours.
