On July 16, 2007 at 12:42 p.m., FAST 5 was dispatched to a building fire in Salem City.  While enroute, the call was upgraded to a 2nd alarm by Chief Ayares.  This added additonal units and changed our assignment from FAST to the second due truck company.  Quint 5 was ordered to report to the rear of the building (’C’ division).  Pennsville’s crew performed a search of the college,  placed ladders to the roofs of multiple taxpayers, and placed multiple handlines in service.  After an explosion collapsed part of the structure, Quint 5 went into defensive operations with it’s master stream.  The fire was caused by an electrical fault.  Pennsville units were on scene for about 5 hours.
