Severe Storm, Flooding
On May 12, 2008, a severe storm with high tides and high winds hit Pennsville. The Delaware River overflowed the bulkhead on Riveria Drive which caused flooding in the Penn Beach area of the Township. Other areas hit by flooding included the end of E. Pittsfield Street, White Street in the area of Beaver Avenue, and Victory Avenue. Eight residents requested evacuation from their homes. Some residents had to be rescued by boat, as they were completely surrounded by flood water. Pennsville OEM was activated and it was a busy morning for police and firefighters, with Station 5 responding to nine calls for assistance that day. No injuries to rescuers or residents were reported.
