Auto extrication training was held at Station 5 on April 14, 2008. This training was for some of our newer firefighters who are just learning how to extricate a patient from a vehicle. Several times a year, extrication training is held at Station 5 both to instruct new firefighters and to maintain proficiency.

On March 25, 2008 at 11:23 p.m., Pennsville Fire & Rescue was dispatched to assist the Salem Fire Department with a working building fire at a shopping plaza. Due to smoke showing from such a large building, a second alarm was initially dispatched. Quint 5-6 responded as FAST(RIT), but went into service as a truck company as the fire worsened. Firefighters went into the structure but were quickly pulled out due to worsening conditions. Heavy smoke flashed over to fire and Quint 5-6 put its elevated master stream into service, as well as a portable ground monitor. Pennsville firefighters were in service for 4 1/2 hours until released by command.

On September 11, 2007, Pennsville Fire & Rescue hosted fire prevention activities at the fire station. A group of pre-schoolers visited us and learned how to stay safe in the event of a fire. Of course, the best part of the day for the kids was getting a chance to climb into a real fire engine! Remember to have a fire safety plan in your home. Check out our safety tips section for more information on how to keep your family safe.
